Project Description:
This project involved the widening and reconstruction of 5 meters of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard (Pendleton Avenue) in Anderson, Indiana. Features of this project included the modernization of traffic signals with pedestrian push buttons at 25th Street, Brown Street, and Jackson Street. New curb and gutters, handicapped accessible ramps and sidewalks were also included. This project eliminated several 6-legged intersections and the relocation of the Anderson Speedway entrance to improve traffic flow and increase safety.
Additional features included extensive street lighting, grassed medians, the relocation of utility poles offsite, minimal overhead power line crossings, and interconnecting traffic signals with the City's "MIST" system of traffic signal monitoring. Furthermore, stormwater drainage was improved and new water service lines were installed.
